THE GESTALT CENTER OFFERS a three-year part-time post-graduate training program in Gestalt psychotherapy for licensed professionals, meeting on 18 alternate Friday evenings from October through May, and including four Sunday Seminars, a Winter Weekend Therapy Intensive and a four-day Summer Training Intensive.

GESTALT TRAINING, like our therapy, is both humanistic and experiential, combining a stimulating academic program with a strong emphasis on learning by doing.  At the heart of our program is the use of small practicum groups in which students get to experience and practice live therapy, in the presence of a supportive supervisor.

Practicum: Student therapist and client doing live therapy;

supervisor (in lavender) and group looking on.

Students also get to observe live demonstrations by faculty therapists.  We are supportive of trainees' individual needs and each is assigned an advisor who follows them through all three levels of training, each of which has its own specific requirements and responsibilities.

HIGHLIGHTS OF TRAINING PROGRAM

  • Three-year program
  • Small practicum groups
  • Client referrals 2nd & 3rd year (therapist keeps client fee)
  • Each student has faculty advisor
  • Strong sense of community

Applications may be submitted throughout the year and will be processed and acted upon within a month of their submission.  Candidates may enter in October or February and are encouraged to do an Intensive Weekend and to begin Gestalt therapy prior to beginning the program.  An interview is also required.

Admission is open to all qualified candidates regardless of race, religion, ethnic or national origin, or sexual orientation.

To learn more about our training program, we invite you to attend our Introduction to Gestalt workshop, where you'll see a live demonstration of Gestalt therapy, meet some of our faculty and students, and hear more details about the training program.
