About Us

The Gestalt Center equips therapists with the clinical skills, personal confidence, and community they need to build meaningful careers helping others heal.

Becoming an exceptional therapist isn't just about mastering techniques. We believe it's about becoming the person who is comfortable in your skin and your skillset, allowing you to meet another human with authenticity, curiosity, and awareness. That is exactly what our programs offer.

Gestalt helped shape many of the ideas we now consider modern psychotherapy. Nearly 60 years later, we're still exploring what else is possible.

Our Founder,
Dr. Marilyn Rosanes-Berrett

Mindfulness. Embodiment. Working with “parts.” What began as a bold, unconventional approach has become one of the foundational influences behind many contemporary therapeutic models.

Founded in 1967 by Dr. Marilyn Rosanes-Berrett, a close colleague of Gestalt founder Dr. Frederick "Fritz" Perls, The Gestalt Center was established to carry this work forward. For nearly six decades, we've continued to evolve the practice while preserving the philosophies at its core, preparing therapists with both a foundational education and the confidence to put it into practice.

Whole-Human Learning

We believe great therapists develop both professionally and personally. Clinical knowledge, self-awareness, creativity, and presence grow together.

Experiential Practice

Therapy is learned by doing. Through live demonstrations and real-time supervised practice (not role-play), students develop skills they can confidently carry into real clinical work.

Relationship-Forward Faculty

Healing happens in relationship, and so does learning. Advisors, supervisors, faculty, and peers create an environment where students are challenged, supported, and known.

Modern Curriculum

Our teaching honors Gestalt's rich history while continually integrating contemporary research and evolving clinical perspectives. Students graduate with a timeless foundation that remains relevant in today's mental health landscape.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Gestalt training requires awareness of all the dynamics in the room, including how systemic oppression and privilege shape our clients, ourselves, and the communities we create. We are committed to helping each member of our community recognize and challenge fixed gestalts around race, sexual and gender identity, size, socioeconomic background, age, religion, ability, citizenship, and other forms of difference and oppression. By building this awareness into our training, practice, and relationships, we seek to create a culturally responsive community where we can recognize oppressive patterns rather than recreate them.
